Steel fabrications, weldments and structural components require shot blasting to Sa 2.5 before the application of protective coatings. Shot blasting removes mill scale, weld spatter, rust and contamination — creating the anchor profile required for long-term coating adhesion.
Shot blasting removes weld spatter and flux residue from weld seams — essential for achieving a smooth, continuous coating over welds. Weld spatter left in place creates pinholes in the coating and accelerates corrosion at weld lines.
We provide both workshop blasting (at our facility) and on-site blasting (mobile units). For large or assembled fabrications, on-site blasting is the most practical option.
