Rust Removal Shot Blasting

A mobile rust-removal scope starts with the affected steel or metalwork, corrosion condition, access and the proposed next treatment. Shot blasting can be assessed for suitable structures, fabrications and equipment where a clean, profiled surface is required before protection.

For local coverage, use the postcode service finder to reach the relevant area route. The local page explains coverage; the condition, preparation requirement and working controls still need to be reviewed for the actual project.

ISO 8501-1 Rust Grades

Steel is classified by rust grade before blasting: Grade A (mill scale intact, no visible rust), Grade B (mill scale with some rust), Grade C (all mill scale rusted away, light pitting), Grade D (heavy pitting and rust). The project specification should set the agreed surface-preparation grade.

Compare Preparation Methods

Wire brushing, needle gunning, rust converters and abrasive preparation have different outcomes and limitations. The proposed coating system, extent of corrosion, geometry, containment requirements and accepted inspection basis should determine whether shot blasting is suitable.
