Old antifouling coatings contain biocides and heavy metals (copper, tin). Shot blasting removes all antifouling layers. All spent abrasive and removed coating is collected and disposed of as hazardous waste in accordance with Environment Agency regulations.
After blasting, marine steelwork is typically coated with a zinc-rich primer, epoxy mid-coat and antifouling topcoat. We work to NORSOK M-501, IMO PSPC and Lloyd's Register specifications.
